Elizabeth was born in Belgaum, East India to her parents Walter Hollyer and
Rose Ann Reilly Hollyer in 1874. She was the first of fifteen children. When she married
Charles Henry Hill her father 'disowned' her and did not communicate
with her again according to her granddaughter Alberta Hill Sparrow.
However, one of her sisters did keep in touch with her over the years.
Her son, Charles Ernest, always spoke lovingly of her and with
the greatest respect.
In her Bible she made copious notes and all with an obvious love and fondness
for those she wrote about. She was very particular about keeping a
record of family history, birthdays, weddings, deaths and addresses.

This is a small note found in Elizabeth's Bible.
"The Hollyers
My own people lived in the Reading Barrack's for 12 years.
I think the road from downtown to same
was called the Oxford Rd Reading. We all
attended St. George's Church, Tilehurst not
far from The Barracks. We had a very nice home there."

Death
Ken Knowles, son of Clara Sabi and one of
Elizabeth Hollyer Hill's grandsons,
wrote these memories of his Granny
